I think the AI stuff will end up being a bit of a duffer after a year, Samsung have said that there will be a paywall behind some (most?) of the AI features from 2025, so all the reviews raving about the best bits have not factored this into their reviews. Someone buying one of there with the mind to keep it for over 3 years given that there will be 7 years of OS updates provided, will have to pay for the AI features if they get accustomed to them over the next year and who knows how much Samsung will charge for that.
Someone on page two of this thread posted about that which put me off getting one, well that and the free watch offer has expired. I'll wait until they confirm what is exactly happening.
The generative tools in the editor have been around for a long time, it's just now that Samsung has implemented them, but they've been out on Google Photos and other apps for a long time and will also be coming to the S23 series so these won't be behind a paywall as anything with AI cores can run those tasks.
Yeah, I'll be happy if I essentially get the Google photo features for "free" with the s24...
I dont pay the Google subscription as I opted to pay for the m365 cloud ecosystem subscription for the 1tb one drive and office licenses. So I currently miss out on the photo editor stuff as Microsoft don't seem to be competitive in that area.

The basic "object eraser", reflection eraser have been there since S22 days in the Samsung gallery app. The new "generative" AI features are the new ones. The old eraser etc still remain but do a different job.snuffy said:
I really do like the square and flat look of my S24U. The missus now has my S21U and it now looks out of the ark to me ! But only a couple of weeks ago it didn't.
S21u user here, no plans to upgrade but have to admit the thought of a flat, square, perfectly symmetrical and largely glare proof screen sounds rather appealing.LittleBigPlanet said:
I find the S23U to be too big (I also have an S10 which I prefer). I just wish Samsung produced the S24 with 512GB storage and dual-SIM.
Starting to look at alternatives but have been a Samsung user for over 10 years.
According to the website the S24 does have dual sim (2 physical or 2 e-sim or 1 of each). Can't help with storage though as it appears to max out at 256GB (and 8GB RAM).Starting to look at alternatives but have been a Samsung user for over 10 years.
Is the storage a dealbreaker? I seem to find myself using less and less of it these days with everything moving towards the cloud, I just checked and my 512GB is 30% full, the vast majority of which is apps and system.
I agree though the Ultra is massive, it took some getting used to and you have to plan around small pockets sometimes I had a Flip 3 for a while and I really did appreciate a tiny phone, but opening it every time I wanted to use it got tiresome. I'm thinking about a fold at some point in the future having had a play with someone's - I could then ditch the tablet.

I think it's more an issue of potential future proofing with the 512GB storage-- I'm currently about 50% full but of course it could do w/ a clean up (WhatsApp seems to eat storage despite doing my best to delete rubbish as it's received!). I tend to keep my phones for 3-4 years so knowing that I've got enough local storage (I don't use the cloud) is a must. Frustratingly, it appears in other regions that the S24 is available w/ 512GB.
I won't move to the Ultra, it's like carrying a TV around imo!

For some reason Samsung are dropping microSD on their premium 'S' phones. It's still an option on their top 'A' phones.I think it's more an issue of potential future proofing with the 512GB storage-- I'm currently about 50% full but of course it could do w/ a clean up (WhatsApp seems to eat storage despite doing my best to delete rubbish as it's received!). It means you have to pay a premium on top of an already expensive phone to get a more storage than the standard 128gigs - I went for 256gigs on my S23 (previously owned an S10e that had 128gigs onboard + a 200gig microSD).

Damn. Noones home tomorrow. God knows where's its gonna end up as the email mentions a PIN code to release the delivery too.
DPD will not leave it anywhere, they hand it over and take a picture of someone holding it in your doorway or whatever. But they delivered mine and they did not ask for a PIN (not that I'd received one). When I got my initial email, it said we are expecting it, then the next day they emailed again to say it was coming that day (plus if you have the DPD app, it will pop up as well).
OK, so I've had it a few hours..
Camera is amazing. Everything else is Meh...
Squared edges and extra width make it awkward in the pocket. Also makes it look like a 2010 Sony Xperia phone..
Can't figure out if I can change the clock style on the AOD display. I'm guessing I can't?
Not sure if it's a keeper or going back at this point.
