Bandwidth. They've tried it and found that in the majority of cases the Wi-Fi signal just wasn't strong enough to carry a consistent UHD Stream without buffering or pixelation.
My Amazon Prime and Netflix work fine in UHD, surely Sky aren't any more special?MikeGTi said:

That if Sky mini boxes work using the same technology, it should be able to 4k quite easily. No need to be so condescending. I actually think it's quite bad that a Sky mini box is inferior to a Fire Stick.Your post about plex made no sense (to me) in relation to my comment about how lossy the encoding must be for uhd streams to be < 25Mbs, considering that raw 4K content from a Blu-ray will often be >100Mbs.

I'm not sure where I said I wanted to stream raw Blu-ray content? I don't think anybody produces TV at that high of a bit rate? All I want is to stream 4k at what providers offer (i.e. 30mbps max)Your post about plex made no sense (to me) in relation to my comment about how lossy the encoding must be for uhd streams to be < 25Mbs, considering that raw 4K content from a Blu-ray will often be >100Mbs.

I made an observation about the lossy nature of uhd streaming knowing the significant disparity in bit rates between streams from BBC, Netflix, Amazon, etc & the bitrates of a (relatively) uncompressed Blu-Ray.
It’s even more challenging if using uncompressed 4K @ 60fps, that’s around 12Gbs

Oh my apologies, I thought you were saying there were no means of streaming high quality 4KI made an observation about the lossy nature of uhd streaming knowing the significant disparity in bit rates between streams from BBC, Netflix, Amazon, etc & the bitrates of a (relatively) uncompressed Blu-Ray.
