Im currently on Sky Connect, and it's terrible. They openly admit they throttle after 5pm, and i cant get more than 0.4mb until about 11pm. During the day it's about 4 meg.

I know they dont mess with Sky Unlimited, so looked into my bill and the pricing of unlimited, to see how much it would cost;

This is my current bill:

And this is what sky offer for Unlimited:

Now, im already paying the line rental, so should my internet costs go down from £17.00 to £0 for 6 months, then up to £7.50 for each month after?

Has anyone else had experiance of this? I kind of think im missing something here...

I tried to 'upgrade' it online, but low and behold, my current connection is so slow, it timed out. The irony....

Just had a look at their website, 21.50 sky package+ 7.50 per month+ 14.50 line rental= £43.50 per month,
hope there's no vat on top of that.

Might be worth ringing them as your Internet sounds slow, even if it is being throttled
  • If you're outside our network area and can't get Sky Broadband Unlimited or Lite, you can still get Sky Broadband Connect for £17 a month* might explain it.

Sky have been chasing subscribers without adding the capacity to support them recently. This story was from a few weeks ago but could still be relevant:

Connect is just BT Wholesale rebranded, its usually because sky dont have any equipment in the exchange so worth finding out that first.

Cheers, I've tried having a look about but cant find a definate answer, even on the sky website, but initial suggestions are that you might be right.

Im just probably going to cancel the phone and internet and set up with someone else.

Hi fyord

We had the s*y connect package which runs through BT whole sale. For many years it was great and then the throughout dropped off a cliff. Couldn't stream and saw packet loss.

Ditched it and went to another provider which also goes through BT. (Our exchange is not unbundled). Went with one that did 1 month rolling contract for flexibility. Been perfect ever since with no slowdown at all. Will never go back to s*y.

We're in the process of swapping from Orange/EE (~25% packet loss) to sky so am curious to see how much of an improvement we see.

SamKnows Exchange Search find your exchange and check the LLU operators, these have their own equipment in.

Ok, done that, perfect link smile

Everyone except talk talk has LLU not avaliable. Does this mean im on a boggo connection?

A girl from talk talk tried to doorstep sell me internet not so long ago and was banging on about something exclusive to this area, i guess she meant the exchange.
