I have had a few instances recently when trying to load some kids games when they won't run.

The latest is an educational CD from an animal park.

My system is way above requirements..... but I gety the error message:

C:windowssystem32autoexec.nt. the system file is not suitable for running MS-Dos and microsoft windows applications choose 'close' to terminate the application.

then get two boxes of close and ignore and whichever one I press the programme doesn't run.

I am running windows XP service pack 2. Athlon 64 3200+ processor, 160 GBhd, 512mb DDR Ram etc.

help please the kids are losing their patients!!!

Found this, sounds like the same thing:

• Query:
Pop up Error Message 16 bit Windows Subsystem C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

• Solution:
This error message usually occurs when Windows XP has been updated with 'Service pack 2'. Windows XP deletes or corrupts this file i.e. Autoexec.nt. This file is meant to be in the SYSYTEM32 folder in the WINDOWS folder.

As a workaround please carry out the following:
1) Go into 'Windows Explorer' and locate the CWINDOWSREPAIR folder
2) Double click on it and locate the 'Autoexec.nt' file
3) Right click on in it and 'copy' it
4) Then locate the SYSTEM32 folder, which will also be in the CWINDOWS folder
5) Double click on this folder and 'paste' this file in.
6) Install the software (again if currently installed)

Good luck.
