free online storage
Discussion
Both humyo and maxmedia offer 25gb storage free online storage - which is better?(More features, quicker, flexibity, security etc) also humyo has disadvantage that if you don't use for 90 days it will remove files -not keen on that despite a prior email notification -is max media same?
Also how long approx will it take to u/l a 800mb file on 2mb b/band

MS now offer the SkyDrive (IIRC), also look at say Yousendit, or get a proper hosting account.
2mb broadband is the download speed, upload will differ - go to www.speedtest.net and look at the upload speed. Remember that BB speeds are quoted in bits, and your 800MB file is in bytes.

Make sure you read the small print. We looked at one and in the small print it said (not quoted, but you get the jist) by uploading data, you gave them license to do what they pleased with the data and they effectively owned it.
I'm not sure how this would work, or whether all the 'free' ones do this, but it's worth thinking about. Also check the small print regarding backups, as the one we saw also said they didnt guarantee data recovery in the case of failure.
You dont get anything for nothing, so you have to ask yourself why it's free.

Days. They'll probably throttle upload and download at the far end too. As mentioned, keep a close eye on their terms and conditions.thanks
Essentially, nothings free. If you're just looking to share stuff over the net, i'd use a DDNS service to enable you to get to your home PC from elsewhere.
