Going mad - problem getting email to see POP3 and SMTP
Discussion
OK I'm haveing a bad brain day and I hope that you can help.
Last night, even early this morning my email was workign just fine. Quite often I'd find that a web page had gone off line and a dialogue talking about connecting via and N95 modem connection was displaying. I've never managed to get my Nokia 75 to act as a modem so after a while this started to bug me. As such this morning I elected to click on the "delete" or possibly "delete connection" button. Result: No more anoying dialogue popping up.
Possible co-incidentally I can no longer get outlook to connect to the POP3 or SMPT servers for my pipex mail. I can still see the net mail element so it is not a disaster but it's very vexing!
What should I be checking to find the source of the problem?
1) obviously I can get onto the internet
2) I have no idea where the information that tells the PC who my ISP is and how to find them is stored so I'm at a loss as to how I'm getting onto the internet (wiresless)
3) as far as I know nothing has changed in the email set up
4) I don't seem to have any connections in my network connections under settings, other than
a) 1394 connection (connected firewall)
b) LAN (cable unplugged)
c) Wireless (connected, firewall)
Very confused!
Many thanks in advance
Miles

Go into the control pannel, internet options, connections, choose 'never dial'.
Go into Outlook, Tools, accounts, and in the properties of the account, check the connection(s) tab and make sure it's not set to dial up, but to use lan/whatever.
You may have to reboot to put all of this into effect.
HTH!
