Hi All

One of my customers wants to send email newsletters to her client base.

I've made her aware of the need to provide a 'unsubscribe me' facility and these are all to existing customers who are happy to receive such emails.

However, if she starts sending bulk email through her normal ISP then it may get flagged as spam by the ISP and it'd mean manually editing contact lists when someone wants to unsub & so on.

Anyone got any recommendations for list server type facilities. Cheap or free would be good (she's not got the resources to throw lots of cash at it, it's not core to her marketing but she'd like to be able to do it). Subscribers in the hundreds rather than thousands but if it was fairly automated so people could self-unsubscribe, that'd be ideal.

I used to run one myself years ago but can't remember the site I used!

Any recommendations? There's a lot of software out there I notice but seems to be geared to mahoosive concerns sending lots of junk.

Cheers - PBF

Constant contact, we used it where i used to work and it incorporates all the necessary UK laws. It's quite effective and does the unsubscribe thing immediately.

Advise her to be careful with frequency, as if you get reported for spam you are locked until the dispute closes!!

An old 486 with 32MB of RAM from freecycle or local tip or other machine "about to be thrown out due to upgrade", basic debian or ubuntu installation upon this with a decent MTA (exim, qmail) and majodomo ( http://www.greatcircle.com/majordomo/ )

Cost of hardware = £0, cost of operating system and software = £0. Does require a nerd to set it up though hehe.
