All

I have decided to make use of an old dell box i've had in the loft for years, and have connected it up to my tv and amp.

The next thing I want to be able to do is make use of the 20+gig of music i have. I want to be able to remotely make music play on the pc. in my mind, i'd pictured some sort of html interface, but i've been looking for a few weeks now and haven't stumbled across anything.

does anyone have any suggestions?

regards

I have a similar setup, with the addition of a couple of Squeezeboxes dotted around the house. AFAIK, you can use the Slimdevices Squeezebox software, without a Squeezebox. I can certainly access my music PC from any other computer on my network and control what plays where. It's got to be worth a try, the software is a free download from their site. (or was when I last looked!)

Let me know if it helps. thumbup

That looks like exactly what i'm after, Jo !

Many thanks indeed.

Now you've suggested this, I seem to recall Mr & Mrs Fish having this set up at their home. Wish i'd remembered that beforehand!

I use iTunes to do that.

Install iTunes on your 2nd pc and tell it to use the library on your other pc?

Easy. Job done. Free as well wink

Cheers chris, but - what i am (was) trying to achieve was to browse and select which music to play on (lets call it) pc one, but have it play out on pc two.

I've not had a good mess round with slim server yet, but i'm pretty sure that it can help me realise a solution. (got i feel like a tit for typing "realise a solution&quotwink

They do, and I have been known to stop Mr F playing '99 Red Balloons' using the set-up mentioned above. hehe

Sorry James! biglaugh
