Irritating FF problem!

Well, I'm not sure it's a problem, or a 'feature', but it's flipping annoying, and I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to 'fix'.
When I view a PH forum for example I used to use my up and down keys to easily scroll up and down the page.
For some unknown reason, and it started a few days ago, when I now use the up/down keys, it's like the forum is in edit mode, and it scrolls up/down line by line - and I even see a cursor (like in MS word) on the left of the screen! The scroll lock is not on, so it's not that.
I know it's only a small thing, but really really irritates me. I not made any changes to FF in the past few days, nor installed any new software or updates. The version I'm running is FF 3.0b2.
