My PC's hard drive is getting very noisy and doesn't sound asthough it's got long to go before it fails. How do I transfer the stuff on it to a new hard drive?

Easy way? Buy/borrow big external USB drive, copy all stuff to that, copy stuff to new disk when Windows reinstalled.

To actually do a disk-to-disk copy (presumably to preserve apps and games and stuff), well. That's a bit less easy. Windows Backup will do it, but it's about as friendly as a Brake spokesman at a motor show.

I was hoping to do a disk to disk copy as I don't have the Windows disks install on the new hard drive.

Easiest way is to use something like Acronis True Image. http://www.acronis.co.uk/homecomputing/products/tr...

The current, February, issue of PC Pro magazine has v8 Full Product on the Cover Disk.
