got a problem, a member of staff's pc has had a heart attack, and died. NOW
i have taken the HD out and started to pull desktop docs over to mine via a IDE usb drive. i have copied over 6 PST files, but his MAIN one wont come over saying its corrupt. i cant run a scanpst.exe on it either.

Any ideas how to recover the er

Thanks
Nick

Are you importing directly from the files into Outlook or just performing a file copy from HDD to HDD?

Firstly, chkdsk the donor disc to see that all's well. Then copy the file to the new HDD, check it's not flagged RO (happens when you copy .PST files using CD and makes it an arse to import... I would imagine paperbag)

Where does that leave you?

How large is the PST in question..? Older types over 2GB are notorious for corrupting...

Can you open it within the Outlook client, or is that a no go?

Keep running it till it runs clean. It often says it can't go on.... And then does wink
