Hi all,

Am a bit at a loss- I recently burnt a lot of files to be archived onto a DVD R. (Mainly powerpoint and word docs).

Its really strange, but some of the documents open, no problem, however some do not. They appear on the cd with their correct size, and show up correctly, its just that when I attempt to open the files, it does not work. The error message is simply : Powerpoint was unable to open the file"

Does anyone know of any software i could use to retrieve these files from the DVD, or to "un-corrupt" them perhaps?

Unfortunately the original files are no longer accessible...

thanks for any help,

adam

Can you copy the files off the DVD onto your desktop and try that?

Did you verify the burn when you did it?

Are there any strange characters in the filenames, or are they in very long paths?

Copying was the first thing i tried smile Still didnt work frown

I did, but i only checked a couple of files, I didnt open every file. I stupidly thought that they all would work...

No strange characters or long paths.

I just did some research, and it turns out that reversing file corruption is impossible?

Looks like i am screwed...damn.
