Is my laptop broken?

Evening,

I have been experiancing some problems on my sony vaio laptop whilst surfing the t'internet. When I open explorer or try to open the next page of a website I am frequently getting a pop up that says:

'The server www.(webaddress).com at DSL Router requires a username and password.

Warning: This server is requesting that your username and password be sent in an insecure manner (basic authentication without a secure connection)

username:
Password '

I click cancel then the screen goes black and it says: 401 unauthorised.

Since this has been happening I have also been unable to print with my wireless printer. I am guessing it could be the router, but, My OH doesn't have trouble with using the internet and has never had anything like this happen.

I am a bit wary of typing any usernames or passwords as I only got rid of a trojan horse (I think that's what it was called) the other day.

We use sky broadband and have never had any problems up untill now.

Any help/advice would be really appreciated as this is really starting to get very annoying and I rely on laptop/internet for business use.

Sounds like you didn;t really get rid of the trojan.

what did you do to get rid ?

I found the file and deleted it. I managed to locate the file with a free trial Norton.
