Talktalk porn filters are now on by default, Sky to activate soon.
Guess I'll have to ring them to say I'm a normal red blooded male, can I have my porn back please.

Apparently its a simple checkbox on-screen, no contact required.Talktalk porn filters are now on by default, Sky to activate soon.

However I do find it wrong that we have to opt out rather than in.
Its like the account personnel will make some sort of pre-conceived judgement about me once they've seen I've opted out.

Who watches porn on their phone anyway? My eyes are bad enough already!
I think this is a great idea. My step children go to their Dad's in the holidays and he's not tech aware and doesn't really care anyway - they have seen porn in the past, probably by accident, but they are all far too young to see it and understand it, so it's far safer for them not to see it in the first place.
I know he should be more careful but the fact is he's not and having the filter on by default will give them some protection from a feckless father. They all have phones a children use phones like we use laptops !

the only issue is that it doesn't cut all the porn out of social networks like twitter which is worrying, I guess twitter will be the equivalent to the hedgerow porn you used to get when I was (much) younger...
Except the hedgerow stuff was way, way, way stronger than anything that I've seen on twitter.George111 said:

I agree in principle but this kind of thing always has some king of feature creep. PS it is easy to opt out. (So I've been told)I know he should be more careful but the fact is he's not and having the filter on by default will give them some protection from a feckless father. Sort of agree, obviously for young kids but oddly enough being a responsible parent, my kids have never come across any porn as the are supervised when on their devices and I have web filter software on my computers (K9 by Bluecoat)It's the generation of teenagers I feel sorry for. Most of us will know the illicit and exciting feelings of discovering your Dad's Playboys or Fiestas. Sometime even the odd readers wife was good enough to have a wk over. But know we'll be locking them out of these sorts of experiences.

It could signal the rise of the porn magazine again. It's the generation of teenagers I feel sorry for. Then again, I'm not too bothered as I don't feel that finding a copy of Razzle in a bush ever has been a particularly important part of teenage development.
