Taking out insurance after the item has been damaged is a bit of a no no.

So I would wait a few weeks before making your claim and delete your post.

Committing fraud against insurance companies just puts everyone else's costs up, hope you get caught. Good example to your child.

I’m surprised they let you buy the cover without inspecting the item. Most places don’t allow warranty purchases after the initial.

How is it damaged?

Why don't you ring them up and ask if it covers for accidental damage as your son has accidentally damaged it?

In fact I've saved you a job... https://www.argos.co.uk/help/faq/72608

I’d probably have asked if the these warranties were any good before buying it TBH.

You have purchased it now so might as well test how good they are by using it, otherwise the additional insurance will be money wasted too.

For some reason the OP completely deleted everything on the post as he didn’t seem to like some of the answers he got.

The USB port and wiring was damaged as well as what sounded like the chassis or structural parts and it had a game stuck inside.

i imagine even a broken one would go for more than new.

the thing is it will be obvious when it was broken, data and time, so if i was the OP i wouldn't claim as they will record on the fraud database which will mean no car insurance, house etc.. They know people try it on all the time.

You know what who cares what you lot think, there’s worse things going on in the world, like people haven’t and won’t continue to make claims. I’ve insured plenty items and touch wood never had to make a claim, everything from home insurance, car insurance, holiday insurance, mobile phone insurance electrical items etc etc why are people being morons about it. Most of you leaving negative comments probably don’t have kids so you will never know what it feels like to constantly have to replace broken items. If any of you have any idea how many months I’ve tried getting this console you wouldn’t be such losers about it, anyway whatever, I’ll get it replaced even if it Means buying a new one. I’ll stick to the car topic in future!!!

You wouldn’t wait until you’ve had a crash to buy car insurance though would you.

To be fair, the only loser here is you who lost a PS5.

I've seen a program on TV, can't remember the name but they investigate claims. The ps5 will obviously store all data and most likely have indicators for damage for when and where. The issue is mistakes and happen and if you had insurance would be covered, you might try, but like i said they ren't stupid and you risk making yourself uninsurable for ever.
