Microsoft Frontpage
Discussion
A few years ago whilst at uni, I used Microsoft Frontpage to create a basic website. Is this application still available, IIRC it was free on a few CD's that set up your ISP.
If not is there an easy to use programn to rival it?
I was going to post in computers but thought this would probably get a wider audience here.
Thanks in advance
Mat

IMO Anything to make websites from Microsoft is crap.
Go buy Dreamweaver and use that. It's a nice piece of kit and is easy to use, especially after going through the tutorials with it.
Mod Note: Pirated software is not big or clever.

You have to be careful which version you select, as there are two types (Pc and Mac Versions) I believe.
Dreamweaver is fantastic, alot more advance and still a 50/50 split between the design and coding, so you can use which ever your more comfortable with.

I set that up using dreamweaver. Simply made the layout in Adobe Photoshop and spliced the image into several images and imported it over. Theres loads of free tutorials on google on how to do this.

IIRC FrontPage Express was bundled free with some ISP CD's (that was some time ago weren't it... all fields this was) but FrontPage (full version) was a full software.
Not that I would advocate this kind of thing at all but it is possible to come across certain full version software packages which you can download.

No help because you can't run it on a Mac, but for others: MS Visual Web Developer Express is worth a look, and is a free download from http://www.microsoft.com/express/vwd/
Don't know if this is for a mac as well, but it could be useful for people needing a free app.......get in quick while the link is still active !!

Frontpage is part of Office.
I see the usual 'MS is crap, FP is crap, get Dreamweaver' replies have emerged, predictably, but unless you're a geek Dreamweaver is not the easiest to use - I'd say it's way to complex for most needs.
I make all my sites in FP because it's easy to use, easy to understand and it works. My sites are not competition entries for 'State of the Art All Singing & Dancing Website 2007' but they look good and work well for me. No-one has gone to www.blokewithacamera.co.uk and said 'Your website is crap', what they actually tend to say is 'I love your website!'

Hey bloke with Camera, nice site
The reason why FrontPage seems old hat, is that it is old hat.
It's been replaced with Expression Web designer, which alas is not free. However, there's a free trial you can download here: http://www.microsoft.com/expression/ to either see if it's worth buying, or do your task in (depending on how long you've got to do the job).
