Router Log Message question.

Got my wireless network up and running a few weeks back and all seems good. I have 2 wireless laptops and 1 wired desktop, the router is configured only to allow connection to the specific MAC addresses I have entered for the wireless machine so I believe the network is pretty secure from casual hacking and logging on?
when I look at the log stored on the router every now and then among the usual gumpf about one of the network PC's logging in or out there is the following message:-
2004.09.15 13:55:53 **SYN Flood to Host** 192.168.1.2, 3653->> 207.171.184.17, 443 (from ATM Outbound)
This worries my a bit, what does 'flood to Host' mean, in my non-technical mind it seems somebody is trying to get in using some technique by which they send loads of 'something' to try and get in?
