Hey all,

I've just bought a DVD-RW drive for my PC and would quite like to make the odd backup of some DVD movies I have - how do I do it?

Before anyone says it, I'm advocating flogging illegal copies for a fiver, I just want to backup a couple.

Cheers

Dave

Thanks chaps, ill look those out

I tried Nero last night, just on the 'Copy DVD' method - it just said "DVD Copyright Protected" and terminated.

I'll try DVD Clone and DVD Shrink, thanks

This stuff works very well indeed. Of course - if you use the software to circumvent the copy protection systems you are committing an offence. Whilst the studios may or may not take this seriously there are cases of people being fined big money.

Using the software to create copies for sale will be taken very seriously indeed and land anyone doing it in prison.

The driver can be used to "multi-region" a Media Center PC for example....which is fairly legitimate I think. The copying software can be used to back up DVDs of home movies you've made.

Clearly there is NO WAY ANYONE would EVER CONSIDER using the two together at any time to make copies of other stuff. Oh no. That would be illegal.

Thanks Don - I genuinely am not looking to make money here, I just want to be able to copy the odd DVD.

Thanks all.

Doh! Typo, I assure you!

Don> I agree completely with your posts. I always backup my audio CDs as i'm so good at destroying them in the car - I use the copy and give the original to my girlfriend - she gets a more diverse music collection, I get to re-copy it once i've knackered my backup
