zone alarm and vista

Hi I've just bought a laptop and am in the process of pruning vista down. I have zonealarm on my pc and want to install it in place of the inadequate windows firewall but I've heard horror stories of vista with zonealarm. What should I do ion your opinion, have they fixed the bugs yet and has anyone else had problems?

The Vista firewall isn't that bad.

Not being a total computer wizard (I normally do structural design especially floors )I had the impression that the vista firewall was no better than the xp one ie doesn't block programs phoning home. If the vista one worked I'd definately want to use it but I've heard many a negative comment about it.
