To all PH computer bods.....
If you have been talking to two completely different people who you thought live miles apart, and don't know each other from Adam for a couple of years, and you find out they had the same ip address, would it mean they are definitely one and the same person......

I know you are dying to know the full story, but it is a very delicate situation that could have far reaching consequences...
However, I have been out all day, and just received this message from the moderator of a certain forum..........

I've been looking back at **** posts the first time he was here, and posts going back as far as 2007 share an IP address with, yes, you guessed it,***** Since **** re-joined, he's posted 11 times, every one from the same IP address. ***** posted from that IP address 11 times, too, all of them recently. Nobody else has ever posted from that address. Don't know if you want to run any of that by your Pistonheads guys and see what they think?
The server is not a proxy one......

It's most likely the same person but unless you get the mac address or something there is no true way to know.
In the balance of probabilities it will be the same person.

Yes, I've seen that, and it's true where an ISP uses proxy servers, e.g. AOL. These posts are from BT addresses, which don't.
All the IT people I've checked with have said - it's just possible for it to be different people, but extremely unlikely.

No, this has no connection with PH whatsoever, it is in regard to an unrelated forum.I have to be careful because for all I know the suspected person could be on PH, although I doubt it..........
