Whenever I sync my iPhone 4 with my iMac I get an error box come up saying "camera not found".

iTunes still sees the phone OK and I can sync no problem but obviously somewhere it associates the iPhone with a camera. Have no issues when I connect an iPod to the iMac.

So..is there somewhere in my Mac where I can dis-associate the iPhone with a camera?

Thanks!

Sounds very strange - I had problems syncing my iPhone4 with iTunes until I did a software update for OSX.
I think at one stage when I initially synced I clicked a button stating "is this a camera" or similar! Unfortunately once it had been clicked, it could not be unclicked smile

Syncing is no problem - I just have to click a button every time on the pop up!

Sync issues? fking sync issues?

Dont talk to me about sync issues. My 3GS has different settings and behaviours after each sync since going to iOS4.

POS.
I'm sorry I asked! getmecoat

Gary, I have exactly the same thing.
It's a Canon utility (Camera Window it's called) that is opened when you plug in the iPhone.
I have no idea how to stop it, as the application has no settings seemingly.

Don't worry, it's not a sync issue! smile
Oh I know it's not a sync issue. But yes - you are correct - it's the cannon utility! I'll scout to that and see if there is an option in there. Cheers!

No worries.

It's prompted me into looking and seeing if you can stop it! I'll report back if I find anything... smile
Funnily you cannot launch that software manually - it needs a camera to fire it up. Other half has the camera so cannot do anything frown

Ah well - if you find anything let me know!

I'm not sure that you can dissociate a specific device, but you can prevent apps opening automatically when you connect a camera.

To do this, open up ImageCapture from your apps folder. Select preferences and it should show you which app is set to open when you connect a camera (in your case, I suspect Camera Window from Canon).

Pretty sure you'd then have to manually open your preferred app when you connect a proper camera though.
Awesome thanks.... all sorted now and no window opening and pissing me off biggrin
