Production delay for new E Class

Sorry to hear your latest update, Andy. Not good. Maybe they are all being held back for the new production decade, as that starts on 1st April.
Today I got emailed by my dealership, asking me to choose a number plate. It made me feel slightly closer to getting the car, even though I know they only did it to make me feel a bit happier about the situation.

Well, my car has a VIN, the system is telling my dealer it is "In Production", the state between "Scheduled, not produced" and "Produced, Not Shipped" and has been since the beginning of last week. They also, unprompted, told me they wouldn't know anything else until the 27th...which is weirdly specific for something they otherwise have no information about...which is probably just to keep me from asking every 2-3 days for an update. I'd prefer knowing for sure it hadn't started than this weird production limbo I find myself in.

Having given consideration to the situation with my car over the weekend, and having enjoyed the CarWow video, I've decided to delay taking delivery of a new car until September/October time when, hopefully, Mercedes Germany will have their house in order and can provide a definite delivery date.

Sorry to hear that, Andy. Understandable though, as it’s been a remarkably underwhelming experience. I spoke to MB AMG UK CS just now, and mine is still confirmed to be built on 06/04. It’s the first time that a week has gone past without it slipping, so I am hopeful. The chap I spoke to said it’s unlikely to slip now. One it has a VIN he’ll call me, and will book me in at Brooklands.

My car received a VIN over a month ago, yet still wasn't expected to be delivered until a months time.
