Hi

Quick question.

Which is the best engine in the viano - the 2.2 CDI or the 3.0 CDI with an auto box.

Thanks in advance

Andrew
Without a doubt the 3.0 CDI.

I have driven both, 2.2 for three years and 3.0 to present.

The V6 is quieter, smoother, faster and not much worse on fuel!

(admittedly this is in Vito 'van' state, but they are the same thing)
Thanks for the response, it is much appreciated!

If you just ask them then you'll be ok??? They are desparate for the business ! They can negotiate this will Merc HQ. If your dealer wont do it then go and see another. IMHO

hi Ben. Ive got a new C class with the standard Bluetooth phone watsit. In order to store phone numbers so that I can call without taking my hands off the wheel it seems I need to send a vcard to the car (I cant type them in manually is that right?). I have a blackberry which doesnt do vcards, so I borrowed the missus nokia and tried but I cant get that to work either (and the manual is useless). Would yo ube able to tell me how I can store numbers please.

Many thanks

B.

What fluid do I put in the power steering reservoir, is it dextron.I checked it but it is not red?
I assume the power steering reservoir is the one underneath the cover to the nearside of the cover on top of the engine.

If you are still helping Ben? I have a 2001 E320 cdi Auto with 120k on it and tonight I have 4 malfunctions all at the same time which in clude ABS, BSP, EPC? and ESP. The steering is also slightly heavy but it seems to drive fine but the cruise has stopped working too.
I am hoping to get the MB dealer to look at it tomorrow but I am needing the car for an xmas run and need to know if its safe to drive. What do you reckon it is? I had a look on benzworld and the brake lights are ok.

im not ben but i can give good sound advice, i was a mercedes diagnostic technician and 2 years ago opened a mercedes benz specialist garage. MB TECH in Warrington cheshire,

common fault on 210 e class with your symptoms can be.... brake light switch
.... bas diaphragm travel sensor
.... bas release switch e
.... etc etc etc
with regards safety to drive, an active safety system(abs, esp, etc) which has faults can be dangerous, the only advice would be get it checked on a star machine, asap.

could be as simple as a cheap sensor to something more sinister like wiring, ecu issues.

one question, has your battery been flat?

It was an ABS ring on the rear drive shaft that fell off due to poor design/corrosion. Thanks. Been driving it for twoo weeks and only issue is no ABS so just a bit more careful! MB solution is a new shaft at 600. Managed to get a SH one very reasonably priced although there is a company that makes new rings on their own for about £40 each

Hi

Hopefully someone can help, I used my mothers ML to jump start a car and since doing so I have a few electrical issues, the heated seats, fuel gauge, central locking and few warning lights are not working. She is not happy any advice would be great, I did read the manual afterwards and it transpires I should not have used her car for a jump.

Thanks in advance.

The ML's were generally OK for jump starting stuff. Anything bigger than a C Class and you run a real risk of frazzling the dash cluster, sounds like this might be the case ?

Thanks for the reply, I tried to jump start a London taxi the problem is I think i removed the leads while the ML was running and then attatched them again. Do you think I need a new cluster or can it be repaired.

Thanks

They're a sealed unit, so repairing it would be a tad tricky.

It's not as easy as that, you need to have phone prewiring installed in your car. You should have the plug for a phone cradle in the armrest.

Then, after checking your phone is compatible, buy a bluetooth adapter to plug in where the phone cradle normally goes.
