Let's post stuff about 80s and 90s Mercs!
Discussion
I like my 80s and 90s mercs, and like exploring anything to do with them. Why don't we post random stuff to do with this era of mercedes? From the barge 1-5 thread there are plenty who like this era of Mercedes on Pistonheads.
Anything goes - thoughts, comments, anecdotes, Youtube videos, cars for sale, links to reader's car threads and so on. 190 to S-classes welcome.
I'll start with this video of a nice looking W124 300E on youtube. Nothing special, but I enjoyed it:

What an unusual spec - the 300 engine but wind up windows. Post away!

Yeah...they're ok but they're not as good as BMWs!
(Just kidding...the 190E, even though I no longer own one, is still IMHO the best big volume/mass produced car ever made.)
Derin of course you are right. An e28 528 is still my perfect daily but for rust!(Just kidding...the 190E, even though I no longer own one, is still IMHO the best big volume/mass produced car ever made.)
Some of the nicest photos of restored mercs are of course located on one website, eg here: http://www.bmwclassics.co.uk/Mercedes_C124_230CE/i...
Lovely!
This video made me look at r129s for the engine that AMG put in 'The Hammer'. What a W124!

Lovely!
Just imagine ordering a new MB back in the 1980s and looking at the colour charts. They must have been magnificent. Look at the shade of this 190... it wouldn't be allowed now! http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C699543

Story!
Thanks for sharing - I must try the 300-24 engine sometime. Does anyone have an opinion as to how it compares to the 12v 300?I found this G-wagon advertisement amusing: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CqHweCW_sYg

Does anyone else use a classic Mercedes for track days?
This is my 1982 W123 280e, at Blyton Park on Friday.
I ripped the uprated engine mounts apart later that morning.
I'm thinking of solid mounting the engine, before I continue with turbocharging it.
Here's a video from the same day, it's not the fastest car, but I bet it's the most fun...

That's brilliant! It sounds great. What engine mods do you have? This is my 1982 W123 280e, at Blyton Park on Friday.
