Hi All,

After trying a couple of FB groups for Mercedes, they seem a pretty unfriendly bunch tbf biggrin

So I've come back to my tried and tested PistonHeads smile

Brain pick - daughter's just bought a 14-plate A220 CDi AMG Sport. nice car, but doesn't have satnav.
Aside from going CarPlay, or just using her iphone, what are the options for installing satnav modules (legitimately).

I can't see any reason why this post should be removed - genuine question about genuine Merc options smile

Thanks in advance,

Dan

From memory (we have a 2018 B200 we bought new) there are 2 options for nav on the A/B/CLA/GLA Mercedes from this generation.

The most basic is the Garmin system which should be built into the car already. There is a SD card slot in the central armrest cubby and you just need to add the SD card with the map data and you are up and running. It wasn't a great system when new, low resolution, slow to load etc.

There is also a command online system which was an expensive option from memory, better resolution and maps update automatically online, we didn't tick the box. My C class has this option but it means you can't have car play / android auto which is a pain.

To be honest the nav in the car is so out of date now we use Google maps or Waze over car play rather than the inbuilt nav.

Thanks, tbh I was leaning towards this after the underwhelming response in general (says more about the satnav system tbh! 😂)

She needs a reliable sat nav due to her job, so while the phone is brilliant, I was toying with putting the module in to help with resale in the future. Perhaps this isn’t required.

Cheers

Dan - there is also now an alternative to the Becker Navipilot that goes into the slot…

CARABC Wireless Carplay... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09993XC87?ref=ppx_pop...

I’ve put one of these into my recently acquired 2012 C Class and it’s absolutely brilliant. You can get them even cheaper on AliExpress but I bottled it and decided to play safe via Amazon - there was a £25 voucher you could apply so £184 which is a lot cheaper than a Becker module.
