GL 420 CDi

I am thinking of replacing my VW Touareg with a 7-seater equivalent and I am considering the GL.

Does anyone have any experience/opinion of these?

Wife wants a Volvo XC90. I think they're a bit bland but perhaps the XC90's the better car?

I don't want a Disco or Q7.

Need diff locks/low ratio for lawn-mowing/paddock duties so no E or R-class. I will also be fitting AT tyres.

I think the Volvo may be less than ideal since it has limited offroad tools.
