Mrs Freak is considering a new(ish) Stelvio as her next car. She doesn't have any real interest in cars if I am honest just wants something a bit different and gets her from A to B, she's currently driving a 2020 5 door Jeep Wrangler as an example.

Budget is up to around 40K and there seems to be plenty of choice out there looking on the usual sites. What I am curious to know is if there are any things to be aware of, engines/model variants to avoid, common issues etc.

Thanks

I had a Stelvio QV for 15 months with absolutely zero issues.
Obviously quite costly to run, but worth it.

If you’re on FB there’s a very good, friendly and active Stelvio group which can give you loads of info on the ‘normal’ models.

I e been running a 19 plate Stelvio for a couple of years. It’s the 280 BHP Petrol in Milano spec.
It really is a damned good car. Comfortable, fast and practical. It’s very easy and relaxing to drive, the auto box is one of the best there is and the lovely paddles add something extra, you use the right hand paddle to put it in drive and it’s just such a nice satisfying touch point.
Can’t say it’s the most economical device, I get about 32mph on my 60 mile long commute taking it sensibly, if you use the power that drops.
The latest Alfa’s are well made and generally reliable, but with odd electrical niggle, mainly due to battery charging issues. Mine has an occasional fault with the central locking, which is a bit of a pain.

I have 2020 Ti diesel, cracking car great spec.

With your budget you’ll be able to get a 2021 on which has upgraded infotainment and driver aids (and a bit of update on the centre console).

Personal choice on fuel, I was a bit underwhelmed by the 280 petrol so chose the 210 diesel. I wanted the electric sport seats as I really liked them in my Giulia.

Cheers all, sounds like it could be an option for her.

We'll take a trip to the stealers and have a proper look, although I think we'll scour AT etc for a car. Sounds like 2021 onwards in the one to go for, I don't think she's fussed on petrol/diesel, her Jeep only manages 25mpg so fuel costs aren't a huge consideration, obvious petrol/diesel will drive differently.

I own a 2022 Veloce 2.2 210

18,000 miles so far, tow with it most weekends for racing and been faultless

I get 38-42mpg av. commute. It'll sit at 50+ mpg if you do just motorway and gentle on the throttle

Handles well, very good work horse for me and looks nice. I spec'd mine a fair bit with the bigger 21s, red calipers, harmon, autonomous driving, electric towbar kit & roof bars

Only gripe is the autonomous is a bit fussy to engage. Needs to be motorway, it wont always recognise A roads

Popped into a local dealer at the weekend, looks like this will be her next car.

Her current lease is up at the end of the year, dealer had around 8 in stock, but I think she'll look for a year old one as they seem to take a big hit in the first year or so.

Easily fixed, although Alfa don’t want to know…

Have a Veloce and now onto year three of ownership and no real issues. Does everything it's asked to do. The number plate has been cloned, but not on the exact same model and the other end of the country, but that's hardly specific to the car.

Even a cheeky lap of the Nürburgring

Great pic that. I've only been on my bike (also Italian). Would like to give it a go on my Stelvio at some point

Hijacking the thread …

Can you fit 2 bikes in the boot of a Stelvio (rear sits down of course) without removing any wheel?

Thanks

How most cars are nicked, nothing exclusive to Alfa.
