Just Bought My First Alfa - 159 Sportwagon
Discussion
I've been on the lookout for a practical(ish) family car for a while now, and how hard is it to find a car with any kind of character?!? I'm not into the Germanese never-break-but-just-a-boring-car thing. I eventually came to the 159, and was lucky to get one of the last Ti (special edition) versions in the UK in exactly the spec I wanted, which I picked up at the end of last week.
So far I couldn't be happier with the car; it's a 159 Ti Sportwagon, 2.4D Q4. It feels extremely well put together, is pretty luxurious and has plenty of toys inside. It rides very well and is fairly quiet, much more so than I expected, considering it handles splendidly - the sports suspension and 4 wheel drive giving a very nice balance in my opinion (it doesn't feel a heavy car). It's not super quick, but is decent enough and will only get quicker with miles (I've still got my eye on a P-Box though ). And it hasn't broken down yet!

Stunning - I have to say I was not sold on the 159 when it first came out. Some aspects were great (headlights) but others seemed a bit overdone and as a whole I would say it lost some of the more simple beauty of the 156 wagons. However yours in particular really hits the mark, wheels are great, sits nice and squat, great colour. As a model it is definitely growing on me.
Top job![thumbup](/inc/images/thumbup.gif)
Top job

Awesome, hope to pick one up once they've depreciated more. It's like a new version of my 156 - 2.4, black, black leather, no roof rails. The correct choices ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
Oh, and for what it's worth my 2.4 is the late multijet (so basically the same engine except the mapping) and is coming up for 75k miles in 4 years with no issues at all. Uses barely any oil, returns 45mpg and sounds remarkably good for a diesel - best engine that Alfa make now IMO.

Did you know that there is a Alfa Romeo's Owner's Club? Google AROC for details...
<tongue-in-cheek>
Laws of Alfa ownership:
Prepare to be bankrupted at every service.
Buy some fuses. Lots of fuses.
Using the alarm will probably kill the interior lights.
Odd dashboard lights are normal, at least it means that the fuse hasn't blown - again.
Strange mechanical parts may fall out of the dashboard. Don't worry, they aren't necessary. That's what the glove box is for.
Don't use the glovebox, the handle will fall off.
Drive around with a great big smile on your face.
Thrash the nuts off it - it's called an Italian tune-up and is good for the car.
</tongue-in-cheek>
Anyone want to add some more?
