Now that's nice. A wagon version of that car in that colour was my first choice, but they are not exactly common.
Thanks dobbo, you would be waiting a wile for one of those i'd bet! Wasn't easy finding this one, there wasn't many 2.4 Ti's about when i was looking yet alone the Q4. Traveled to London to see a dog and had almost given up, glad i waited now. Yours looks great from your profile!07satisfaction said:
1982 GTV6 2.5L Balocco SE #77 of 350.. Purchased Oct 2013. 102,000 miles, new engine and rebuilt transmission in 2010, minor patina shows, but completely rust free. Upgraded brakes, springs, and shocks. Fabulous track car.
That sir, is exquisite. Ran Davids Busso last friday and what a joy that car is. Starts another life above the 3.5K mark. Goes into fierce mode above the big five. More a GT than a sports car. Enough torque to cruise effortless. The sound... More Alfa Run here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... < Davids collection: Squadra Rossa.

Thank you, all. Your narrative on the lovely engine experience is spot-on... as if the engine indeed has three different lives. One is the lovely opening burble at low rpm, then the operatic tenor mid-range, before the crescendo increases into the screaming rage at red line.. I made this little YouTube clip for the engine sound - https://youtu.be/vTqX0J6Dp5g - including characteristic (but highly embarrassing) 2nd-gear synchro crunching!
The notes from the Busso in the 164 are entirely sedate. Regrettable, but appropriate for its character.
Cheers,

Put to bed.
Resting on the tyre saver chocs I bought at the NEC.
Dehumidifier set to high, security to the max, CTEK on maintenance mode.
Not SORNd as will take her out in the right conditions.
Also, need to get the hardtop restored & an exhaust bracket fixed.

Would be interested in your view on the tyre savers. I usually pump up my tyres to 50-60 psi if I am leaving the car stored for a long time.

Flawed but always made me turn back to look at it wherever I parked it and smile. I spent a small fortune on this car however I can't seem to find any record of it online anymore
I managed to buy back my old GTV TS recently which I am NEVER letting go of again but it will never match the V6.

I was after a V6TB which looked exactly like that (colour, wheels) a few years back, sadly life intervened and finances werent there...The TS might not match a V6, but with some fettling and less weight over the front wheels it should still be glorious, Twinnies sound nice for four-pots

Performance wise a T6 or a V6 will offer equal thrills: no?
Stock the NA V6 has a bit more top end power, and a more linear delivery:http://www.squadra-tuning.nl/autos/categorie/202/a...
The V6T has more down-low torque but lacks in top end punch stock, and i would guess, being an older turbo car, it has a significant amount of turbo lag, whereas the NA engine will respond much sharper to throttle input. I also expect the turbo engine to have a less exhaust noise, simply because of the turbo.
http://www.squadra-tuning.nl/autos/categorie/202/a...
The V6T is mappable to above NA figures though, and will torque-wise absolutely demolish the NA engine then..
The Turbo, being an old 12v unit also has different maintenance demands. The cams are apparently rather soft, so if you dont keep up with adjusting the valves clearances regularly, those cams will get eaten.
