MPG long term on mine is about 35mpg. On a long run using motorways it will return 40 easily.
Pushing it along on the back roads will bring it down to 25 ish.

The ride and handling is exemplary in my view, but to be fair you would not be doing much in the way of oversteering in a Giulia as the TC stamps it out quickly and you can’t turn it off. But it’s stil a superb machine to punt along. Where it will shine over the BM especially if you have an M Sport set up will be its ride quality, it’s in a different league. It gives you much more confidence and feedback. But you do have to work with that and understand it, the steering is almost telepathic, very direct and very responsive.

The low £300 deals will be 8k mileage or a big deposit. Alfa aren’t running the same level of discounts as the Germans at the moment, worth scouring the country for deals though as there is a big difference between the dealers.
Thanks, Mitch. That's very good economy given the power, significantly better than what I am getting.

I read about the TC not being able to be turned off, that is an odd decision for a driver orientated car given how much people rate the general quality of the chassis, particularly with the performance pack, you'd expect the option to turn off to added in there. Perhaps they'll give an option to turn it off later in the product life cycle via the dealers.

To be fair, I think most BMW drivers (myself included) use Sports+ most of the time on the road, which allows you a bit of play but kicks in if you get too carried away.

I'm looking forwards to testing it.

With regards to the deals, I should have clarified, they were PCH not PCP deals I have been looking at. I've seen a few 0% APR deals on offer on PCP from different dealers, but as you say, little discount and requirement for a large deposit. In my view, there is no real guarantee you'll have any equity at the end and I have a suspicion there is a bubble in the car industry, especially with the volume manufacturers.

My car is a great example, I put £6k into the 340i, which had a list price of £52k in March last year, plus the £3.5k MPPSK fitted by me, I got it for £32k a year ago, which is a significant discount, just prior to the launch of the new model. 16 months after registration and 19k miles covered, it's currently valued at £23.5k, which is essentially the settlement figure.

It's also dropped in value dramatically since March new reg, I had a trade in offer of £26k then, now they're moaning about £23.5k, dealers telling me its happening across the industry. Good time to let the finance companies take the liability IMO.

PCH Example:

24 months term, 9 month deposit, 15k miles, £331 PCM.

Similar deals for 36 + 48 months, although, I'd rather be out and into something out after two years.

Its a lot cheaper for 10-12k miles, but I've done 17k in the past 12 months.

When I tested it, the TC gave enough play on the road to keep me happy. It allows the famous "dab of oppo" but gets involved once you start needing armfuls. For me it was good on the road. Not sure how it would translate if you ever took the car on track.

If you want a good driver's chassis and full access to sideways / backwards, the XE is a good alternative. Certainly, with or without TC, the XE is more willing to oversteer. The Alfa's rear axle is much more resistant of movement, in fact the car's setup reminds me of the old RWD Alfas that built their reputation. The XE's handling feels like it's been designed to be more of an exhibitionist.

Never seen 35mpg, even before stage 1 remap, I am in a rural setting in Scotland so plenty twisty’s and little dual carriageway’s so 27 is my average. By the way red is good !

I had 39.x mpg on a (very) steady motorway run over 100miles.

Normally around town and the odd motorway run it’ll sit in the high 20s/30.

Hi, after 9.5 years driving an Octavia VRS I've decided I need to replace it and this is looking like number one.
Seeing some great lease deals, £300 - £350 + 9 months for 3 years and 10k which should do me fine.
Any must have options? Performance pack?
I'm thinking the Monza Red.
Do the 19" wheels work, I like the petals.

What's the boot like? I play in a band and sometimes need to shift some gear about.

I went from an Octavia VRS to a Veloce and the difference was night and day. Lovely car, only let down by Alfa UK's (lack of) customer service.

The performance pack would be nice, but I never felt I needed to soften the ride or have use of an LSD as it's really well set up out of the box. Plus it'll easily take you over the £40k mark.

If you're planning on going over £40k then obviously go all in ... Mine was Stromboli grey with red leather (the best colour) and red calipers.

Boot wasn't enormous if I'm honest, and access wasn't great. I'd go to your local dealer and measure it out.

What are the running costs like in terms of service costs and intervals and how long people getting out the tyres

Services are at 9000, which seems a bit short, but the intermediate is just an Oil and filter so is cheapish at about 200. Main service is about 350 a pop.

My Tyres were changed this week at 26500 miles and were 680 for the four, Goodyear F1’s R/F and AR marked. Some will get less out of them I guess.

I had a test drive over the weekend and I loved it.
So I've ordered one in Misano Blue.
2 year lease £2700 up front £300 a month.
Seems like a good deal.

Finally getting round to test driving one this weekend. Want the TI but will likely go with the veloce on a similar deal

Rang this morning to check on the test drive. All good. Drove the 60 miles to the dealer only to be informed they didn't have the car to test drive.

Pathetic.

Did sit in a veloce ti. The central console is very poorly made. Feels very cheap. Rest of car seemed lovely.

They couldn't deliver a Misano Blue one but I was offered Silver, grey or red, no options for £280.

Undecided right now. Great car but not sure it's practical enough for me at the moment.

Who is that with? Do they all come with the metal gear levers?

No options at all, but I thought all of the Voloce models came with paddles?

Paddles are standard on the Veloce, option on the Super.

Must have option I'd say.

Ah good good. I was confused by the packages on their configurator. But then when you go into the details they are already selected.

I'm mulling over the veloce or the 5 series. I keep going from wanting the fun to wanting that luxury cruiser

Though the BMW dealer tried to upsell me to an X5 then an M5 in the space of five minutes.

I'd have to get the Alfa without having driven one which is the issue here

Not directly comparable... I've driven a Veloce and a current 520i so big difference in performance. The BMW is awfully pretty and far more impressive inside, but it's numb. The Veloce is alive... all the time. Ride wise, I guess the 5 had the edge but the Giulia was good too, and for ride the XE beats both of them while still beating the 5 series for feel and feedback.

When I say numb, even considering it's a mid sized luxury cruiser, the 5 series could be more involving than it is without sacrificing ride or refinement. There may be a great handling car under there but if there is, they hide it well.
