I guessed the new lights were causing my electrical issues. Took them out, retrofitted the original bulbs, tried them again and the same symptoms presented themselves. On the way back into the house to get my hammer I noticed the date...September 30th
...Happy Hedgehog Cleaning Day!
Once the earth block was squirted with WD40 all the lights worked perfectly again. The HID's can stay in the shed until I find a new home for it.
Well it's been a while since I looked under the Fantasia bonnet. I borrowed the starter motor for my 4x4 and now that has other issues I'm considering taxing the old girl and using her occasionally in the Winter.
Most of my restoration budget has gone on the 4x4 and bits needed for it so with Santa's elves and the Tax Ogre gang raping the payday fairies for the next couple of months restoration is on hold (again).
Still the Panda 4x4 starter motor cleaned up well and is now fitted. Just charging the battery before I prime the fuel lines and see if the Fantasia will start after six weeks.

Merry Christmas everyone.
Transition day for me so between yesterdays day shift and today's night shift I thought I'd replace the porous 80's alloys with bigger porous 80's alloys.
Close to a good finish but I have a mirror polishing kit in my shed somewhere.
Fill the rear arch nicely...
...but even with a 10mm spacer they're up against the Omega arm.
The only set of four wheels with legal tyres I have are the ones on the 4x4 (that I wouldn't trust as far as I could spit them out) and the orange Guff II alloys.
Orange and green could work.

Following another frustrating day with my Winter runner I thought I'd address an issue with my Fantasia.
Summer headlights.
The new headlights I fitted for the show are okay but they are the 50/60W type. Road legal but about as much use as driving with side lights compared to modern stuff so the old headlights are back 60/80W with white bulbs. "E" marked and fit for M.O.T and a damn site safer than the new ones.
A little thing I do with my build threads is "Tool of the Job".
The tool that made this job a lot easier was very similar to the one I named before...
...the 8mm version is ideal for swapping headlights the 7mm version if perfect for Jubilee clips.

Don't know.
Lucky those trim panels are available...

...from my friends in Italy.
I've harvested a few parts from the Peterborough Panda 4x4 project.
As it's not going to have doors fairly soon it doesn't need door mirrors or a passenger side door pod.
The hand painted mirrors were pathetic. Once most of the paint was removed with a brilopad the surface has more dimples than a thirteen year old on two cans of Redbull a day.
I'm thinking of painting them green when I do the new grille (that's been in primer over a year).

So making the 4x4 into a van has been a bit of a curse and I'm not using my Fantasia to collect engines any more...

...I've got myself a proper Fiat van instead and may end up with a pick up shell as well.

Did you have any issues with insurance? I know a couple of people that found it difficult to get insurance on a commercial vehicle for private use.£20 more than the 4x4 so long as you don't transport anything hazardous you're fine.

Good to know, though Fiat engines can be pretty hazardous (to sanity and wallet) £20 more than the 4x4 so long as you don't transport anything hazardous you're fine.
