I don't tend to be down that way much... and to be honest I don't get the chance to drive the GTA very often. Unfortunitly I'm not going to the Brooklnads thing this year because I need to be at a wedding in Spain that weekend. I've been looking for some other thing to replace it, so have been considering taking a look at the Spring Alfa Day in Andover on the 23rd. Anyone know if it is worth a look?

Probably should get this thread back on topic of the 8c. I actually think the Coupe looks better. There are some pics floating about of a 8c spider at Pebble Beach I think with some wheels that look like a variation of the 5 hole GTA wheels. Looks really good on the 8c....

I guess many will 'slate' me for preferring the coupe over the spider.

I really hope you are able to secure an 8c. good luck.

well after a lot of thinking I've decided not to go for it after all - the increased rumoured price, and the fact that the dealers are unwilling to take deposits just now on the basis that they have absolutely no idea if it's going to be built at all..

I've got some pretty cool pics of the spyder that I will share once I've cleared it with the person who sent them to me...

Can't say I blame you, with the uncertainty.

Saying that, I was speaking to a guy at our local Alfa dealership who reckoned they were definitely making the coupe, and also that they were planning a new Alfasud based on the Grande Punto. No idea whether he knows more or less than any of the rest of us.

this is the whole problem - the dealers I've spoken are't able to give any kind of certainty. They are hopeful - but the fact they weren't willing ot take my hard earned suggests to me it's all speculation still...

The only cast iron thing I did hear form someone who was in italy meeting alfa as a senior dealershiop rep was that the spyder was the one getting made - the coupe didn't ahve a green light - that was nearly 4 weeks ago I heard that though so things may have changed(!).

Still there are a whole bunch of other british options appearing in the 70k arena to challenge the Maserati 4200 sucessor / 8C / AMV8 so I might put my money in that direction instead...

Im another who is desperately waiting for Alfa to say Yay or Nay definately on this. If they confirm the Spyder Im in. The only question then is the price. Most unhappy I would be though, if the price suddenly went from £70k to £140 bloody k. As for cannablising Maserati sales, sodding Maserati, that 8C will outsell a Maser coupe everyday of everyweek from now until frankly the next decade! Jesus, shove the 3.2 6 pot in as a base car for £40k and you will sell them from now until eternity!

Italiaspeed are currently saying 250 each of Coupes and Spiders priced at 140,000 EUR, which is roughly £95,000 I think. It's a lot of money, but I guess the SZ was about £45,000 when it was launched sixteen years ago - does anyone know what the contemporary prices for a 911 (964?) or a 348 were?

I like your idea of a £40,000 entry-level but I can't see it flying - if people had the choice between a Brera for £30K or an 8C for £40K, I can see a lot of unsold Breras gathering dust!

Lop £5k off the price of a Brera then. Alfa well sell so many of the 8C and the Brera then that BMW, Audi and Merc would lose the coupe market in a 2 or 3 yrs!
