Itchy thumbs so went for a shake down run to see if the quarter mile time had improved. Before I managed that there are a couple of problems with the seat that need sorting. First my bum is too small for it so I slide from one side of the seat to the other when cornering with gusto, so some kind of covering will be needed. Second I should have used nylock nuts because the seat was loose after few minutes. wink

Seriously, sort your seatbelt mountings out. The bolts for the lapbelt are a joke and I doubt the holes they are screwed into are designed to bear any real load.
Get some backplates for the mounting points and some proper seatbelt eyebolts before you kill yourself.

It was purely cosmetic and a bit of a wind up about scruineering. Obviously I needed to see if the harness was long enough and where I was going to mount it. Thank you for your concern though I apreciate it. smile

Another skip at work purchase.

Stainless Steel box? Just need to cut the handle off, weld a top on and that's the fuel cell done. Not bad for £2 eh?

This project is now on hold due to not wanting to cycle naked on Easter Sunday (see my other thread). smile

Hope you all had a nice Easter and enjoyed the break from me going on about my Cinquecento. wink

Today I got a chance to clean the red tape marks off the car.....

....while I was high from the solvent I decided to block/fill the holes in the tailgate and bonnet.

I'm a fan of Isopon (I own a Fiat, Rover and Alfa Romeo) but there is something that has always bothered me. "A pea of hardner for every golf ball of filler". If you need a "golf ball of filler" you seriously need to do more pannel work or you're a bodger of the highest order. The less filler you need to use the better. wink

Test pannels for the blue paint today...

..looks ok from a distance but close up it's crap. frown

Two problems, first I lent my spray gun and compressor to someone who didn't clean it properly and fuffed arround with the adjustments so it wouldn't work properly for the front of the bonnet. Spitting paint out instead of spraying it. So it looks like a relief map of the Australian outback. Secondly when the gun was working properly the paint reacted to everything so the whol lot needs doing again. At least the gun is now set up for it though. wink

So why the bonnet and tailgate only? They're easilly replaced if it went totally pear shaped and I have yet to fill the sunroof hole, the arches are rusty and could need replacing depending on the wheels I get for the car and resident former Lotus suspension geometrist does his magic. smile
