Alfa Romeo Mito 1.3 jtdm smokey cold start
Discussion
If it’s any consolation, mine does the same and it’s embarrassing. A few weeks ago when the temperatures were circa minus 7, it was a real pain to start. It’s done 84k.
I had two injector seals replaced 4 years ago (the only repair) in 8 years of ownership.
I’ve heard that replacing the injectors is expensive and quite a difficult job.

I’ve just had the Glow Plugs changed on the Mito. I’ll be monitoring whether it reduces the start up smoke. It’s been a great little car, that we bought as a three year old approved used Alfa back in March 2015.
I think a lot of the reason for its reliability has been the annual servicing at 7 to 8k intervals.

Smoking and noise on start up issues have been solved by new glow plugs. I think a lot of the reason for its reliability has been the annual servicing at 7 to 8k intervals.
