TVR Challenge Cup goes from strength to strength.
An impressive display at Cadwell sets up an exciting prospect for the bank holiday weekend at Snetteron.

The 2nd round of the Manugistics TVRCC Challenge Cup was held at Cadwell Park over the weekend.

Growth in the series continues with 13 cars taking to the grid this time, and even more promised for Snetterton at the end of the month.

The entry for Cadwell included two Griffith 500s and a brace of Tasmins, some with Cosworth Turbo power and others with standard 2.8 V6s.

Congratulations go to Graham Walden for scoring his first ever win in Class A (4th overall) beating the favourite and 2002 champion, Steve Lewis into 2nd.

Class B Victory went to Simon Bowes in the Bedlington Motor Company backed Griffith 500.

Paul Glynn, in the invitation class TMS Griffith, secured overall victory after an exciting duel with Simon Bowes.

Having qualified 2nd, Paul's prayers were answered by continuous rain before the race. Wet tyres, and a great starting technique got him to the first corner first, where he started to stretch away. Starting from Pole, but running on regulation 'cut slick' control tyres, Simon struggled for grip for the first couple of laps, and was immediately under pressure from Graham Waldens fast starting Tasmin. Despite lower power from its standard engine the orange Bedlington Griffith soon closed the gap to the leader, and started hounding the red TMS car. The two Griffiths made for exciting viewing and listening as they roared round the Lincolnshire parkland, sometime only inches apart. Paul managed used all his experience to hold onto his lead until the chequered flag, with Simon tail-gating him across the line, 0.30 seconds behind. Tazzie Turbo pilot, David Reynolds, came home third for yet another podium finish. In only three races, the Moore Racing rookie, has so far never failed to finish on the podium.

In spite of the weather, it was agreed by competitors and spectators alike, that it had been a very successful event, including an increasingly proffessional paddock display. Enthusiasm is high for the next race at Snetterton on 30th May, as even more cars are promised. Make sure you are there to watch.

yup yup .. please come and support .. don't forget that whilst the front running cars provided a great spectacle at Cadwell, there is close racing all the way down the field which sometimes doesn't get widely reported .. John Sumner and Tim Broughton had an epic battle in the lower orders where there's still plenty of points up for grabs .. so let's hear a big cheer for everyone fighting for their moment of glory. It has to be said though that the two griffs did look stunning, and their close fought 1-2 was fantastic to watch - for the drivers there were plenty of *heart in mouth* moments I'm sure. Well done to both of them for keeping it on the black stuff and fighting hard all the way to the flag ..

The TVRCC / manugistics series is aimed at grass roots TVR enthusiasts and is the best way to see the kind of road cars we're all driving competing on the track. With more modern cars promised at forthcoming rounds the series can only go from strength to strength.

.. so everyone .. make your support felt at the next round .. it's what weekends were made for!!!
