Big thumbs up to Stuart Forrest and the Autocar / Caterham Motorsport team for a great day out. Thirty or so of us spent today hooning round one of the huge Silverstone car parks in a fleet of specially prepared Caterhams, practicing skid control and the mysterious art of drifting. This is very similar to the Caterham slalom school Pistonheads ran last year (and is running again tomorrow), but while the slalom school is against the clock the emphasis at the drift school is on learning to provoke and control slides. The slalom school is great fun (and I'm sure you'll all have a great time tomorrow) but having tried both I reckon the drift school is even better!

I'm not sure the V8S is quite so well suited to drifting as the Caterhams are, but I might just have to bring it to this year's "sideways challenge" competition to find out!

Anyway, thanks again to Stuart and the team for organising it all, and for standing out there in all weather so we could have our fun. I hope you'll do this again in future - I'll definitely be back for the next one!

Good day out isn't it! Tricky little buggers to drift though - so little rear grip and very responsive. Looking forward to the sideways challenge.....
