Anyone on here had a sports exhaust put on a 3200GT?

I have a large crack in my near side rear exhaust back box and am either considering buying a sports system or trying to find someone who has had one put on and has the old pipes laying in the garage. Cash waiting for anyone with the parts and opinions on the sports system please....

Cheers

Scuderia Systems had a 3200 with a tubi fitted couple few weeks back. Sounded bloody good!

Nick (V12V8 i believe) has just had a tubi fitted so his old system must be somewhere. With a hole in it it must sound like a tubi anyway. Problem solved..

Verdi have a barely used Sports exhaust for a 3200 on their website right now. Its a few hundred quid off list price.

There is also some sound files on Scuderia Systems website, 1 of which is a 3200 with tubi fitted

As Ian says, I've got a Tubi on my car and can't believe I drove the car without one. A sports exhaust (particularly the Tubi) is IMO a "must have" for any 3200 owner.

If you are worried about sullying the car's character, don't. With windows shut, the noise is increased and noticeable, but not ridiculous. If you want an extreme sound, then you have to decat the exhaust system with unknown effects on the engine....

If you can make it to Stanford Hall on 6 June, that will give you a chance to check out the exhaust system on my car.

I'm giving that a think, but my immediate problem is the current state of my near side back box which is looking precarious.....to top it all believe it or not there is a four month back order for the original part.....

also the sports exhaust isnt exactly cheap at over a grand......

I'll check yours out on the 6th Nick. Mine isnt terrible just has a crack in it where it's corroded. I cant do anything to resolve it at present anyway seeing as there isn't any available!!

Maser charge £348 per back box.

I have a plan. Buy a tubi and carefully put away my good standard exhaust. Run it for the 10000 miles tops that i will own the car, re-fit the standard exhaust and sell the tubi. I think I am right in saying most of us would buy a 2nd hand tubi for the right money. The ones I have seen 2nd hand seem to hold their money really well. Alternatievly we could get someone to engage Nick in conversation whilst we jack up his car and swap your dodgy exhaust for his tubi.

Flasher, how about Hayward and Scott? I've used them a couple of times with no real probs and I seem to remember you mentioning them yourself in an old post.

It may have been mine. I had a TUBI fitted by Scuderia Systems 3 weeks ago. Louder and more V8 sounding than I thought it would be but well worth having. You can't be shy!

I would certainly not hesitate in recommending Scuderia Systems either.

Can someone please clarify for me - am I right in my understanding that the Tubi exhaust for a 3200GT comprises a pair of back boxes to replace the standard ones?

Nick, is this is what is on your car and also the video clip on the Scuderia Systems site?

Reason for the question is having heard Nick's exhaust on Sunday I was most impressed and am finding myself tempted!

Flasher, have you decided what you're going to do?

Hi Chris,

Yep, both back boxes are replaced with a TUBI with S. Systems. Well worth it!

Like Rob, only the rear silencers have been replaced. I think SS charge about £1350 plus VAT including fitting.

Thanks guys - think I'm going to go for it, if I ever get my car back on the road that is!

Might try making Verdi's an offer for the second hand set they're selling, £1100 seems a bit optimistic.

Chris I agree. Try high 3 figures. That should clinch the deal.

That sounds a little OTT..
Look in the back pages of classic and sportscar for bespoke SS exhaust makers. I got one for my masser for around the £500 mark.... but make sure u specify the level of noise you are after.... mine kicked out 106db at 1m, 45degrees, 5800 rpm which was a little on the noisy side for cruising.
