well i’ve just now realised that exists in this site a Maser section. good!!

i’d like to know a little thing: did you ever drive a Bora? how is it??? i want one!!!! and they say it’s better than a contemporaneous Ferrari, and fulfilling all the GranTurismo ideology, and it’s beautiful, and... anyway.

Never driven one, but I do remember seeing an article about buying them in Classic Car magazine; I'll try and dig it out for you.

As I recall it said they were very good but look out for rust.

But of course that's the case for all exotic Italian steeds I suppose.

Funnily enough it's one of my favourite cars of all time! I never owned one, but was able to compare it to my Daytona thanks to a friend who insisted I take it away for a good long blast.

Although the performance may not have been quite as good as the Daytona it won hands down on the grin factor! I didn't tempt fate by over-extending it, but the handling was OK and it was lighter to drive by far.

Fittings and furnishings were better, and it looked a million dollars - the only doubtful aspects were reliability and a poor service network in the UK, and the price!

Yes, I have driven both 4.7 and 4.9 versions and would agree 100% with McNab. A great classic car and I would love to have one in my garage. Also look at the Khamzin, same period, same mechanicals, more Daytona like in my mind. Nealy scraped a customer's Khamzin once because of the Citroen self-centering steering, PAS that centres itself if you let go of the steering wheel, at any speed (even stationary)!

Hi there again,

Thanx for the answers, ppl!
I didn’t knew that peculiar curiosity of that citroen steering system in the Khamzin. At that period both marquees shared a few parts, but mechanical (engine, gear box, differential, transaxle) were always Maserati.
And Bobfrance, if I’m correct, I do have that Classic Car mag – isn’t it that one with a Bora, a Merak, a Countach, a Grifit, and another Lambo in the front? I do have also the Classic Car from the 40 years old of Maserati, but it slightly focus Bora.
And McNab (I envy you! ) do you really think its price is such expensive? For what I know a very well preserved Bora never surpasses the 40.000€/ 24.000. well, ok, it isn’t cheap, but I still want one.

No! I meant the new price. It seemed a lot at the time. Wish they still made them (using modern tech). The shape's a real winner!
