Well, I was going to buy privately but the two I was considering didn't happen (CW hopefully got his parking space).

I've got more or less the deal I wanted with the car below, plus I don't have to try and sell my Cougar with all the hassle that would bring.

I did want a manual but have no problems at all with the automatic.

Anyway, this is the one I've put a deposit on today...

Nice one, congratulations! That color is Azzurro Argentina isn't it? I think that really suits a 3200. When do you get your hands on the car? Bet you can't wait.

Thanks Chris.

Yes, you're right about the colour - it is Azurro Argentina. It's not quite as light as the pic in real life. The Maserati site shows the interior as sky blue which is really weird as actually it's navy, although the carpeting is light.

I'm picking it up on 10th July - I'm on holiday for two weeks - obviously I can't wait.

Drove it about 5 miles around Swindon which is great if you like traffic light controlled roundabouts with lights that automatically change to red as you approach but got used to it really quickly.

Thanks to the dealer for coming down to the price I asked for (almost).

It's having a full service before I pick it up, they're putting on 6 months tax, the tyres are new, there'll be 12 months Maserati warranty. I've asked them to check out the air con as it didn't cool down very quickly. Is there anything else I should ask them to do?

Paul

Congratulations,

That was the car that I have been pursuing and the one I test drove, the problem was we where about a grand away from what i wanted in p/ex. for my Tuscan.
I noticed the difference with the interior picture as well, glad its not just my eyes then.
Simon rang me this morning to tell me someone came in without a p/ex and paid the sticker price...dissapointed but it wasn't destined to be mine.
Lovely car though, he also told me he has a black car with black interior its a 2000 and about the same price. Not sure how attractive black with black is in term's of resale etc.

any thought's anyone?

P.S. bad loser, you might want to take a look at the front light lens on the passenger side(i think), it seems badly scratched from the inside(or it was when I saw the car, did point it out so may be rectified)
Since i still may be doing a deal with them please keep the source of this 'heads up' to yourself

Well I definitely didn't pay the sticker price and definitely had a p/ex but apart from that, he's right.

Follow this link to see the black one www.maserati.co.uk/frameworks/locator/details.asp?VehicleID=1343 - I'd only worry about the interior on hot days. Also, there's a 2000 in the same shade as mine available at Meridien Modena although it's done 13k more than the black one.

Good choice! Just returned from Le Mans in mine where I took three passengers!! Car was superb....especially the run back from the ferry when we diced with an orange Gallardo for several miles!

I'm sure you'll be as impressed with yours as I am with mine.

just back from le-mans too, car was awsome all the way down and back - it really is smooth when you need it and explosive when it's required. You'll love it!

hi everyone, im new to this site. Had a 3200 gta, recently bought 355 f1 spyder.

Congrats bad Loser - 3200 great car. The only things i can think to check are:

Bodywork - they tend to collect chips around the rear wheel arches where the car gets wider. So look carefully there that all is ok as will rust if not treated. Also mine (2001 y reg) had 2 small rust spots on boot that were sorted under warranty. HOWEVER if i have seen the car advertised you are buying (2001 27k miles?) the warranty you are getting will probably be a trident used warranty not manufacturers. This is not as comprehensive as the manu warranty so i would get anything however small sorted if you find it before you part with your cash. This warranty doesnt cover rust for one. Oh and to renew it next year is around 2.5k now - the price recently doubled i hear due to number of claims. My car was trouble free but maybe i was lucky.
Most importantly it will need a cam belt change at 3 years old (unless its already had one due to miles). So the service you want them to do is the major not the minor inc belts.
My brakes squeaked which was annoying (so does my 355 tho but im told they all do that. And drive it when cold to check the auto box is ok. If it has any probs more likely to show then.

ps when you get it - dont use sports mode in the wet and boot it. Route one into hedge if you are unlucky.

All the best
Andy

Yep stunning car. I was one of the passengers and at 6ft 1 spent the entire journey from Le Mans to Le Havre in the back and no problems at all.
Not many cars with that performance you could say that about!!!

Cheers for the lift Flasher !!!

p.s. have you got your keys i need to get something out of the car !!!

For real - has anyone had a definate quote - also is that on >30K cars since it varies with mileage IIRC

re warranty, well it was about 1600 quid then as of 1st april it went up. I cant remember exactly how much they said but it was around 2500, and my car was on 14k miles - i dont know what the mileage bands are. Maranello could prob tell you straight away if you call them. Not sure if its really due to claims or just that the 3200 no longer being a current model they are punishing owners! Oh and the wrranty is non refundable which was a shame for me as i sold the car within a month of renewing it (at the old rate at least)

Thanks to everybody for your help (and others, everybody and his brother that has a 3200 has been passing on suggestions to me).

But a special big thanks to Julian at Dick Lovett of Swindon who has done everything I've asked.

I would recommend him/them every time.

Has the Trident warranty really gone up that much again? When I had a 3200 I paid under £900 incl VAT to renew the warranty at Maranello's in late 02 when the car was three years old. The claims must be hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rather puts me off getting back into a Maser at some stage.

Look's like im going to take the plunge, having test driven the black 3200 www.maserati.co.uk/frameworks/locator/details.asp?VehicleID=1343
yesterday I was finally convinced its the car for me. Made more of the test drive than last time and it feel's really bloody quick, still didn't hammer it but i didnt need too, the potential is very obvious, braking and handling of course massively different to the Tuscan, but just need getting used to. (quick Q.has the steering got a rake adjustment?)

Agreed a price although I feel im paying slightly too much (32.5K for a 2000 against p/ex of 24K for my 2000 tuscan, any opinion welcome)

The interior, which i was a little worried about turned out to be black and grey rather than all black and it has a nice carbon console and is in all just right. Black as a exterior colour really suits the car as well.

On the way home was passed on the A406 by a lovely silver Tuscan and in honesty I did wonder whether I had done the right thing, still think its one of the most dramatic looking car's on the road.Despite all the hassles and there have been quite a few, I will be sorry to see the Tuscan go.

But that's not to say i regret my decision, i cant wait to have the 3200 on the drive and that's now the sun is shining, come the winter I will know I have done the right thing, besides the new addition means anytime we need to make a journey, its got to be the alfa which although a 'nice' car makes the destination more important than the journey.

All I hope is that the masser is relatively hassle free and i will be a happy man.
