Lacquer peeling
Discussion
I've had my BMW 318 a couple of months and the other day decided to give it a polish. Found it needed a claying so did the bonnet first, and noticed one bit that was more difficult to shift than the rest. On closer inspection I realised it was actually a small patch of clearcoat that was missing. Now it's only about 2 inches square but obviously I need to do something about it before it starts getting any worse. Anyone know what my next move is? It's the only part of the car where this has happened, the rest is looking pretty good.
Get some from Halfords, apply, then decide if you want to spend the necessary amount on respraying the panel.
You can build it up to being proud of the surrounding area, then flat down with some 3M Trizact 3K, and polish back up to full gloss.
Dry gently with warm air for a good 15 mins at least, then leave to cool to ambient, before working on it.
