205 GTi

Had a noisy fuel pump which packed in. Fitted the replacement and can hear it prime and run. There is fuel in the outlet hose so seems to be working as it should. However, the car still won't start. It was running fine until the pump failure.

The new pump is smaller than the original - new one listed here: http://www.driven2automotive.com/product.php?id_pr...

The engine turns over until the battery flattens. When I called recovery out, the AA guy got it running very breifly via some sort of quick start into the AFM so ignition etc fine.

Next step/s? Should I remove the fuel line off the rail and crank it?

If buying a Walbro I'd have bought a genuine one rather than a copy. Hardly any difference in price.

And if the battery goes flat, try a new battery.

Am I missing something here??? 205GTi fuel pumps are in the tank, and the fuel pick up/fuel gauge/pump is all one.The photo of the Walbro pump is an external inline one. What have you done? fitted an external inline pump? if so you will have allsorts of fuel pick up and wiring issues.

Unless the link has been changed I am seeing an 'in tank' pump complete with filter sock, clamps, wiring etc.
