Just a Thought but im looking to put a team together for the Birkett 6h relay race on sat 30th October.

If Ted approves how about a PH Team.. We need 4-6 Drivers with cars and some helpers..

So Far I've Got 2 myself in the Tasmin and Dom in his mg Midget

does any one else fancy this...

THe cost is 900 quid split between the drivers.

The competition is very mixed and based on a handicap system. they take the fastest lap by each driver in his own car at silverstone and work out how many laps you should do in an equal share of the time. That is then used to calculate free laps on top of the scratch team.

the winning team is the most free laps plus actual laps. there are also class winners.

the competition is from pre war aston gp cars to radicals!!!

To try to be competitive you need long stints win minimum stops but this tends to be governed by fuel capacity...

If Teds up for it plus some drivers ( mmm does Ted have a licence?) all We'd need from PH is plenty of Stickerage !!!!

Cheers

Sounds like it could be a laff. Don't race myself but would love to see a PH team out there. Shout if you're interested and we'll see what we can pull together. Given the right team, PH would be able to subsidise too...

Free Pies .

Can provide one driver and G20 car, plus maybe a couple of spanner guys. Car runs quite quickly for about 35 / 40 mins in the dry - or really slowly forever in the wet .

What is the class structure?

I would love to take part, got helmet, licence (national A) etc but no car. I am willing to share for a reasonable fee.

Failing that I used to look after a couple of race cars for friends so although a little out of practise I can still use a spanner &/or large hammer!

Mr Holden, how about a car share?

Yep silverstone National, its a great end of term bash. last year i did it with a team of tasmins ( 5 cars 6 drivers). we shared the pit garage with the pre war astons and a morgan team...

edited to say. you need at least a full national B licence i.e no novice cross but plenty of time to get them if you dont have them yet..

Cheers

Count me in!

I dont have a race licence or car, so i'd be limited to being a vocal supporter / gofer / wheel changer.

There are a few other PHers who race - I wonder if it's worth giving any of these guys a try?

Martin Short
Rob Barff
Simon Pullen
Not sure if they'll be good enough though!

I'd be up for it. Potentially have another 2 drivers (all with Locosts) who would do it too.

Ok then if we Go with the 5 we've got for now

ME - TVR Tasmin
Dom - MG Midget
DD - Ginetta G20
Ed - Westie
Stig - Locost

that looks like a plan and gives us space to drop another in if we can find somthing interesting.

the cost between 5 would be 180 quid each for approx 1h15mins racing each plus a bit of qualifying..

are you all up for that?

if so mail me you address and i'll send an entry form which you'll need to return to me together with a cheque ( to 750 motor club) together with a results sheet showing your fastest lap at Silverstone..

I also need an indication of how long your car will run on a full tank of fuel. im going to stick an extra tank in mine to get over the hour if we need it.

G

P.s.

Ted are you happy for that group of drivers to enter under th PH banner?

I think the event its self would benifit from some exposure and PH seems an ideal place for it.. Currently there is no promotion (as usual) and even though the grid is usually oversubscribed the stands must have about 10 people in them !!!

Greetings and salutations gentlemen

I would certainly be up for this in the Tuscan. Naturally I would need to conduct negotiations with Mr Wheeler and his servants at TVR regarding their leased engine.

We would need to install an enlarged fuel tank in the Tuscan, but I don't think that is a problem.

Regards

Andy
