It's impressive how close all those figures are to the manufacturers quoted times.

Impressive figures....The Murcielago is a definite bargain looking at how it compared with the others....I sat in a gorgeous LHD one a little while ago and I must say, worth every penny....am really tempted...

Just going to say the same thing myself. Dont like the look of the SLR although I admire its performance and engineering. The GT looks lovely but still leaves me a little cold like all Porsches.

Murcielago and £150K in change for me any day of the week. The titanium e-gear model at Goodwood was was the business (until the driver stoved the front end in on the Sunday!)

Yeah, I had just taken my dad to see the SLR at their stand and he loved it but I then told him how much it was and said I'd rather have a 360 CS or Murcielago and with the change buy a nice pad in Greece....he left the stand pretty sharpish ...to then see the Lambo get trashed by some pretty poor driving from what I could see...

Like you the Porsche GT looks the nuts but doesn't take my breath away. I'm still drawn towards the Lambo and still have plenty change in my pocket..For me, if I was to spend approx 100K for a car, it's gotta be either a late 6.0 Diablo or a Murcielago.....The CS's are still outta my reach

I wonder if the results would have been different with a Koenigsegg turning up?

The best part of that article was the table showing the cars which have held the title starting with the F40. There are very neat increases year on year with each car doing a few MPH more that the previous best. Then there is a massive jump to the Macca F1's time.

It really puts it into perspective just how far ahead of its time the car was (and still is now) The Enzo is an awesome bit of kit but could 'only' manage 218 MPH at Nardo compared to the F1's 240.

Interesting to see what times the Koeningsegg and Veyron (if it ever arrives) can muster.
