Oncall IT Support Salary?
Discussion
My employer is currently drawing up a weekend oncall agreement with a customer for IT support (9am-1pm, weekends and bank holidays). I'll be responsible for this weekend support and it'll only be for serious cases.
Nobody has mentioned money to me yet, but I'm curious to know what I should expect? I know there will be a flat fee for being on call, and a charge for every phone call.

Depends on the company.
Normally i'd expect something along the lines of £X per hour for standby and then your usual hourly rate * 1.5 for saturday daytime.
But a fixed hourly rate for when you actually get called isn't uncommon either.
I know of a third line support team thats on £6 per hour standby and then £25 per hour when called.

They way it works here:
On call for 7 days at a time covering 6pm - 8am Monday To Friday and 24 hrs Sat + Sun.
£30 per weekday
£50 per weekend day
£40 disturbance allowance for each unique incident if/when called plus a full hours pay at the prevailing rate (usually time and a half). Prevailing rate for all further time worked.
Bank Holidays = 5 x Weekend rate.
Xmas day and New Years day = 10 x Weekend rate.
It's fairly generous but we had the upper hand in the negotiations.
