Anniesdad,

I have no idea what happened in the accident, but I dont think your subject for the thread is very fair.
The sun just like the story a few weeks ago perpetuate the culture of envy in this country. An accident in any car is a sad thing. Least Mr Wright is unhurt.

You ever switched traction control off on a car to see what its like?

I don't know if any of you fellas caught sight of Wrighty going totally mental during those rare moments of England glory during Euro 2004?

I'm no huge footie fan, but you can't knock someone with that much enthusiasm! Poor sod - I bet he feels bad enough without the press turning up to have a giggle.

Fair point. I feel sorry for the guy, I really do. I'm not envious (well maybe a little), and trust me I don't like seeing Ferrari's post accident.

Like you i've no idea what happened in the accident other than Ian Wright's own statement that he turned the ASR off and paid the penalty. I think if he can laugh it off, we all can.

Re: Traction. My car does have ASC and yes I have switched it off, put car in sport mode and promptly switched the little bugger back on.

Sorry if I've offended. Not my intention.

Wrighty's a legend. Let's face it he's one of us.

If a sports car crashes they alway say

"Ferrari 360, top speed 180mph"

but you never see,

"Ford Fiesta 1.1 top speed 83mph"

well he's probably got 8 cars and keeping track of the tax discx on them all probably isn't top priority. I mean it's hardly like he's skimping on 160 quid cos he can't pay is it!

good call Mr T - thats always my excuse too!!

whilst I also feel sorry for Mr Wright, and obviosuly the sun talk a load of bollocks whenever possible...if it WERE a 30mph street traction control or not should be entirely irrelevant....unles he were being a dick...which might have killed someone....

I doubt if a current disc would have made any difference to the outcome....

Perhaps if it was taxed the owner would have had less worry on his mind and more concentration.

(Thats just the sort of balls that someone will post in a minute, just you see!)

some of the quotes from that page are funny....

“The car was a complete mess. I don’t know how they walked away from that alive, let alone unhurt."

Doesn't look bad enough to kill the occupants IMO

“It would be difficult to do that much damage unless he was going more than 30mph.”

There's no engine there to soak up the blow....

Interesting how The Sun (and other British newspapers) often emphasise on datas that don't relate at all to the fact, such as the car's value and top speed. Also I don't see any "horror" in this crash since both occupants apparently walked out hardly injured.
