I used to be a big fan of Champ Car, but I've missed every race this year and almost forgot about the series. Anyway, I'm watching the Toronto GP the evening and they've got an interesting viewer feature that I've never seen before, this feature is called 'Push to Boost'. Using the 'interactive buttons' on your remote control, you can vote for your favorite driver in the race. By voting, you add a tenth of a second (or some tiny amount) to the driver's 'boost gauge', the drivers accumulate this boost throughout the race and they can use it whenever they wish, adding a few extra BHP to their engine power. Right now, I see a driver has 13 seconds, another has 59 seconds and a few other have zero. Also, I don't think the leader can use it.

Quite bizarre and I'm sure it's open to abuse.

Does anyone have any more info on this?

Ah

Done some internet searching on this and I was wrong. Viewers can use the interactive buttons on their TV to view how much boost the drivers have left... no add to it, the all start with 60 seconds.

Thank god... I thought it had turned into Big Brother racing.
