I have a dilemma, some may say its a nice one to have, some may say its a no brainer.

I am in position to buy a 993TT for around £45K. However, I am finding it hard to justify the cost for a near 10year old car that you cannot utilise the power and performance given the congestion of today's roads and increasing speed cameras.

The alternative is a 993C2 for around £30k, that way you get the driving experience of a 911 with £15k in the bank. But the fear here is "...oh I wish I bought the Turbo"

Your views are welcomed.

It's a very good question.

And then you also look at the 996 and now 997 thinking shall I wait and get the 996TT.

Back to your question: Whether to get a C2 or Turbo is a no brainer.

I bought a 993 C4 and liked it a lot, but still drooled over the thought of a Turbo, so bought a 993 TT about 3 months ago and adore it. There is no comparison. The C4 was a fast car but the 430 bhp TT I have just flies in all gears.

I look at it the other way, for +10K you get a LHD 996TT !

Surely the way you drive and what you want of a car is what will determine which of these two you buy? Like most Porsche owners, I also drool over the really fast machinery and would love to have a Carrera GT parked in my garage, but I'd never get the real value out of it. On the roads in this country, a 993 has as much performance as I can reasonably use - much more than enough most of the time!
A 993TT would be great to own if you can afford the price differential, but if you can think of something enjoyable to do with that £15K, you might well find the C2 will give you all the fun you need. Bear in mind, too, that once you've got used to the TT, you'll be hankering after the next higher dose of excitement - the urge never ends!
Good luck with the choice!

Oh, I think you quite probably can...

Your only dilemma should be whether to get going on the tweaks within one month of purchase or three!

As long as the pleb count is sufficiently low on the morrow, I shall be out for a quick, er...justification, officer.

Chin, chin.

Try them both, I reckon you'll go for the turbo. Plus the Turbo 4 is a classic; the last air cooled turbo and all that. The 993 is considered the best built Porsche ever too.
