Tried searching but as usual PH's search function was having a break.

Where my car lives (and has now moved) there has been for around 3 months this weird white liquid leaking down from the ceiling onto my paintwork.
I hadn't noticed at first but now there is around 6 or 7 white blotches which then leak down so it looks like a 50 p with a tail if i had to explain it.

I've tried loads to get them off including white spirit, poor boys polish and have had a little success with white wine vinegar.

The vinegar seems to be working a little however it is very time consuming and getting a bit worried about damaging the paint. Does any one have any ideas?

Thanks

Thumbs up to a clay bar or even try using a clay polish if that doesnt work then provided the panel hasnt been painted with a 1 pack laquer get some paint thinners (not paint stripper mind!) on it, much stronger than white spirit. If still no joy try a more abrasive polish with a mop should take it off.

if none of the above works than evidently ts stained into the paint and will need sanding off and repainting but I doubt it smile

If it's a concrete deck above the car park it will be calcite - leave it long enough in there and you will have a stalagmite form! There's a few areas in the car park I use which similarly drip onto the car during rain, but as it is only there for a day I remove them the same evening when they are little more than than a cloudy watermark - and avoid that parking space in future. I suggest sticking with the vinegar which will gently dissolve it - try poulticing the mark with vinegar on a pad of kitchen paper. I wouldn't try polishing off when it can be dissolved with vinegar.
