Is there much difference between the BorgWarner T5 gearbox and that of the earlier standard Rover gearbox, I had the same spec gearbox in my Sierra Cosworth (factory fitted) I know the T5 will be almost bullet proof but how reliable is the Rover gearbox??
and also from which year did the Griff get the T5 box
and is there any way of telling if my griff has got a T5 fitted??

Presumably TVR switched to the T5 because it is better able to handle the 500's power than the Rover. I have got a 4.0 Griff with the Rover gearbox. It suffers the same problems as all SD1 gearboxes i.e. they are prone to leak oil and the syncro wears on 2nd gear. The up side is that the clutch is much lighter so is less effort to drive (apparently).
