Seeing as this seems to be the week for diagnosing 944 problems over the web, here is mine. I’ve recently purchased a 944 Turbo and the inspection picked up a slight blow from the downpipe, which was rectified. However now on seemingly random occasions it sounds like the exhaust is blowing and/or there is a metallic rattle/ vibrating sound. These noises only occur at about 2000RPM under a gentle throttle and sometimes at idle. It is only really noticeable with the windows down, however one the windows are down the noise in quite pronounced, especially when it's bouncing of a wall. It has happened when cold, when warm and after it’s been driven hard but it is definitely not there every time I drive the car. Could this be the downpipe coming unstuck again? Anyone had a similar problem? Any help most welcome.

Thanks.

It was'nt the downpipe that was blowing it was the tailpipe. I replaced the tailpipe but it sounds like loose baffles internally in the rear silencer or possibly a heat shield rattling.
